The girls have been in the program for two years, as long as their mother has been in prison. Tonya was sentenced for second-degree murder. "I thank God for the program because it brings variety to me,"  Tonya said, "It's a part of parenting." She said it allows her to discuss important issues with her daughters that would be neglected during their regular visitation.

This great horned owl was released at Pendergast Regional Park, Friday. It had been caught in a soccer goal at the park and was nursed back to health at the Island Wildlife Shelter on Bainbridge Island, Wash.

After helping the South Kitsap Fire and Rescue crew extinguish the fire in his large detached garage, owner Dick Briggs walks past the charred remnants. Briggs said he suspects a propane heater in the structure, a four-car garage in which no cars were kept, started the blaze.
